Swathi Buddhiraju, Treasurer, BSS

Swathi Buddhirju hails from Vishakhapatnam, India and moved to Montreal more than a decade ago. From a very young age she started volunteering for non-profit organizations such as PETA, VSPCA (Vishaka Society of Protection and Care for Animals) and various other animal welfare and protection organizations. She was also a founder member of VSPCA and has donned honorary positions and responsibilities to establish and improve the organizations. She was instrumental in organizing many campaigns and projects in animal rescue and protection. She received several awards in animal welfare and social service in Visakhapatnam.
Swathi has volunteered in many community cultural activities in Montreal. She also has served as program coordinator for Festival of India 2019 conducted by ISKCON Montreal.
Swathi has a great passion towards arts and culture. She began her basic training in Carnataka Sangeetham under her mother. She also started learning Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Guru Vasantha Krishnan.
Swathi understands the importance of art and culture in our society and believes they can be made perpetual through younger generation. She works towards this idea by promoting and encouraging young children to learn and perform on various platforms.
